The Joys Of Moving

I guess I had forgotten what a pain in the ass it is to move. It’s easy to be comfortable where you are and just stay put, but once that decision is made to move and the wheels are in motion, the journey begins. Although things went smoothly with moving, I can’t say it was an easy move or decision to make. When I got here there was a lot to be done, and mostly it is pretty well done with just a few odds and ends to take care of.

My trip to the other side of the state to pick up my Mom over Thanksgiving week and take her to Columbus to see my daughter got canceled. I woke up with my furnace not working, and then my son called from the other side of the state and said not to drive because they got about 10 inches of snow and freezing rain on top of that. Regardless of the snow, I still could not leave without the furnace being fixed, so called the maintenance man, and no one would have the furnace I needed until Tuesday. So on Tuesday it will be a week I have been running electric space heaters. Oh the electric company is going to love me. I was disappointed that I would not be seeing my family over the holiday, but I will reschedule the trip and when we are all together will make our own holiday.

So, in the meantime I have been working on a new recording, which I think is going to turn out really well, and have been able to get some leisure painting time in for myself, other than painting walls lol. It is really different not having my kids stopping in, and I don’t think I have ever had this much privacy in my life. Sometimes, I’m not quite sure what to do with myself. At first it was easy because I was doing some major painting and cleaning, and fixing the place up to suit me. Then I got sick with bronchitis which took it’s toll on me and knocked me for a loop for several weeks. I did go to the doctors on Monday and the bronchitis is gone, but my thyroid levels are still off. I really don’t get it. For years and years I was on the same dosage and the levels always came back normal, then about a year ago they started coming back high, so they lowered my dosage, and I keep having to go back every six weeks to get blood drawn and the levels keep coming back high. So the day after my doctor’s appointment, the doctor’s office called and I already knew either too high or too low, so they called in a different dosage of synthroid. Again, I don’t understand how it can keep being high when I have no thyroid at all to produce the hormone. Grrrrrrrrrr. Anyway, it’s back to the doctor’s in December for more blood tests.

I am starting to settle in here, and it’s becoming comfortable for me. I have found myself watching more television which I rarely do. Though when I was on the couch sick for so long, I was very thankful for having cable lol. I think I have watched more television this month than I have in 5 yrs.

Anyway, I am off to occupy my mind with something or another. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
